7 Important Tips For Teachers Taking Online Classes

It has been more than 6 months, Schools, Colleges and tuition centers have been closed due to the pandemic which has affected the world adversely. Every sector had been impacted and the education system is one of them. 

Someone rightly said -Where there’s a will there’s a way – Everyone tried to cope up with the situation and teachers & students especially children top the list.  The dedication of our teachers around the world helped them to opt for providing online classes and children equally are trying to maintain by moving with rhythm & so-called new normal of online classes which was a far concept for young children!

It might have been not easy for teachers to inculcate the idea of online classes, but surely, they will have come a long way. So, for today, let’s share some quick tips for teachers that may help them to a great extent while taking their online classes.

1. Be Presentable & Always Keep Video On!

Well, we understand for work from home most of us keep videos off until it’s a f2f meeting but for teachers, it is required to show up there in the online class for making a better impact. It may also give the essence of classroom feeling.

2. Record Your Lectures/Sessions

It is always a big yes!

If someone wants to revise what was taught in the session, he/she should have an option. At times a student may skip the session because of unavoidable circumstances like a power cut, internet issues or simply not feeling well. A recorded video can be surely a good move.

3. Cross-Check Your Presentation Before Classes.

Make sure whatever you are going to teach in your session has been cross-checked, the size, the font, Screen ratio so that it can be visible to students for their convenience.  Take good use of tools and technology.

4. Interactive Sessions

All sessions should be interactive, whether it is an academic-related session or an extra curriculum. Muting children for the whole session is not recommended. It kills the vibe of interaction and interest. A minute or two in between the session twice/thrice can be interactive. Also, communication is key to make a connection with your students in a better way.

5. Patience 

We know all teachers are doing their best by making full efforts but at times students especially younger children show tantrums in the mid of the session, dealing with it is not an easy job – Know it very well being a mother of a toddler but Hey! Aren’t the teachers next to your parents? So, give a break and try a bit more.

6. Set Up Your Classroom

Make a dedicated place for streaming your sessions, if possible, set it up like a classroom a bit. Make sure you don’t do it in a common hall area where your other family members keep on moving or television or kitchen chores are going on. It brings a lot of distraction. Keep your work environment free from any distractions is a big plus.

7. Feedbacks & Help

Ask for feedback from children or parents, don’t shy away from it. Also, accept it and work on it. This experience may help you to for both positives and negatives of your overall online classroom traits.

Nobody is born expert but the efforts, dedication and the hunger of doing well with whatever one is doing is the master approach for incredible learning. Being a teacher is one of the oldest & noble professions and making an impact on the future of Children is the strongest Job one can ever do!
