Time to Say GoodBye to 2020 & Step into 2021 with some fresh commitments & resolutions for kids. We as parents can help children to set some exciting goals and attainable resolutions for being a better version of themselves. Resolutions should be made keeping in the mind the interest, age, and other factors in mind and not by comparing them with other children’s achievements.
Resolutions are intended to make kids happy & engross them in better learning opportunities and exploring the world around them. So Here go a few resolutions that will make 2021 a happy and fruitful year for your kid.
1. Picking Up A New Skill
Encourage & Help your child to pick up a new skill. It could be learning a New Foreign Language, Dance, Music, or any art-related Skill. Such activities not only keep them occupied but also adds a lifelong skill to their list.
2. Staying Organized
Most of the time I have noticed, that parents have to organize clothes, cupboards, making the bed in the morning, etc even for their grown-up kids. This can be changed, initiate it now and ask them to do it themselves. For toddlers, asking them to at least putting toys back after playing can be also taught. Such habits if inculcated early helps children to stay active & organized once grown up.
3. Study Everyday
Making it compulsory to study every day of course excluding Sundays. This can help in developing a disciplined habit, which will help your children with performing well in academics. As we are all staying home for 10 months now, kids get enough time to rest, so making them study every day even if it’s just for half an hour makes a good difference.

4. Making Them to Do Household Chores
My 4-year toddler took initiative for this kind of stuff when she was just 3 yrs old. She used to get dishes to the kitchen after we used to finish our meals and it became a habit for her since then. Similarly, there are many other small chores she helps me with & I love when she does it with her tiny hands. Children should be taught from an early-stage itself to do minor household chores as per their age, and never it should be gender specified. Never – I repeat!
5. Reducing Screen time
As this year all the classes were conducted online, so it becomes really necessary to reduce other screen time activities for kids like watching shows, rhymes, etc. Screen time should be used specifically for learning purposes only. Set this resolution for Sure!
6. Exercise Regularly
Make sure your kid doesn’t grow up as a couch potato. Let them explore physical activities such as exercises, yoga, Zumba fitness sessions. Physical Activities help children to remain active, happy & healthy. It also enhances immunity. An evening and morning walk can be also initiated right away from today itself. 7. Reading Books
Books are the best friends of Humans and this can be a perfect hobby for anyone out there. Making children develop the habit of reading is surely going to be the best resolution of any time. It is also a meaningful and efficient way to learn vocabulary and improve the language skills of your kid.
8. Being Kind
There is no virtue like being kind, make sure you instill habits of kindness in your kids. Teach them about charity, helping needy people, and encourage them to do activities that reflect kindness.
9. Cut Down On Junk Food
Encourage your kid to eat nutritious yet healthy snacks, rather than processed foods. Little efforts are obviously required from parents to make it for them. Eating Healthy should be a 2021 goal that should top the list for each one of us.

10. Be A Role Model
Make sure you set goals for your kids and practice them yourself as well( Wherever required of course) Example asking them to reduce screentime but being yourself on the Phone during meals as well is not a good choice. So preach what you practice.
Take Away:
Let your children choose their New Year’s Resolutions themselves as well, If they feel they have responsibility for whether it succeeds or fails, they will be more likely to take it more seriously.
Fix the short-term & long-term goals, and Check the progress accordingly. Setting resolutions for kids is easy but sticking to them needs little effort, patience, and enthusiasm to follow.
